Juno
So I decided to finally see what all the hype was about and wasted a few hours of my life watching the POS that is JUNO. For some reason this movie was nominated for numerous awards and I believe it actually won them.
Juno is a 16 year girl who boinks some dude she does love, gets knocked up, pussies out on getting an abortion and decides to give the sweet new born away to a family that is better fit to handle a baby, and then decides to fall in love with the dude that knocked her up. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, keep reading, hopefully I can persuade you from seeing this movie…
Nothing that happens in the movie is really that great. You have ridiculous “hipster” dialog that I hope no one actually uses. You have average characters, that are not developed too well. You have very little ups or down in the movie, and you have a Hollywood style happy ending. Actually the ending is probably twice as happy as most movies.
I saw this movie 2 nights ago and NOTHING sticks out as remarkable. I enjoyed the step mom schooling the ultrasound technician, and the guy from The Office, making fun of Juno in the beginning. I think there was one part in this where I laughed out loud, but outside of that it just kind of was blah. As my grandma would say “It didn’t send me”.
I guess the story is “cute”, but I did not buy any of it. Honestly I am really disappointed with this movie, and do not understand why a single nomination or award were given to this fine film. I would say you are better off cleaning your bathroom, cooking dinner, or getting a few extra hours of sleep instead of watching Juno.
1.5 stars.
Netflix got this to me in 1 day, and received it in 2. (missed my morning mail pickup)
