Hitman

Hitman movie was launched on November 21, 2007. Almost all people know that Hitman movie is based on Hitman Game series developed by IO interactive and published by Eidos Interactive. The game got market appreciation it deserved and was sold in millions of copies. The story of Hitman Game is based on a dedicated killer-for-hire, who is trained to kill by an organization known as The Agency. Hitman himself is known as Agent 47, and sometimes 47, with a bar code on the back of his head.

Yes I know it is not the Hitman Game review but the review of Hitman Movie. I wanted to share the original game story with you because I have seen many people criticizing this movie for deviating from the original Game background. I don’t see much deviation at all. The movie also shows a deadly desperado, agent 47, who has been paid to kill Russian President, Belicoff, but he ends up killing a duplicate of the president and then president tries to kill him to remove all proofs.

On the negative note, the story has lots of weak areas where the writer, Skip Woods , must have struggled to create a plot from a video game. For example, a most wanted killer who is accused for over 100 top level killings across 6 continents is always wearing a black suit, typical game look, with a bar code on the back of his shaved skull. Also few scenes are not less than surprise in the movie like the sword fight in the train station. I think it was pushed to the movie though it was very good but it was misplaced. When agent 47 goes to finish the witness Nika, Olga Kurylenko, he faces an attack from another agent who is firing at him without a silencer on his heavy gun and missing many shots from the aerial angle. I am not a killer by profession but I know at least that from aerial angle you cannot miss by hitting other person who is on a good distance from the target. Also I am still confused about the actual story plot because it looks like Belicoff is trying to kill 47, but the people from the same organization, to which 47 belongs, are trying to kill him.

But this doesn’t mean that the whole movie is a crap. I will give it 4 out of 5 still, because it lived up to my expectations. I have played the Hitman video game and I was enjoying the every moment of the movie. Especially, Agent 47: Timothy Olyphant, acting is superb. He has properly studied the attitude of the game character and has matched his acting with it. My most favorite scene was hotel scene where he breaks through the window in effort to escape from Russian army and the way he stands up and then shows anger is very similar to the game character style.

Movie is more one dimensional than the 3D game but still the camera work is amazing. In different scene directory, Xavier Gens , has just succeeded to give a 3D effort. I was noticing the camera work and it was amazing to see the new angles that we rarely see in action movies. I also like the music of the movie, sound effects are very good and overwhelm the viewer on many occasions. Nika, is a treat for the guys who expects a hot girl in action movies. She covers the sex portion of the story by exposing good amount of flesh with an attitude.

I saw few deleted scenes of the movie on Youtube. In my personal opinion the last scene of the movie in which Nika is shot to dead could have been a better ending of the movie than the one present in the movie which is a typical happy ending. This movie is rated R for bloody violence and it was not necessary to end it on a positive note. I guess the director will hire Nika again in the part 2 of this movie therefore he left her alive.

I give the movie 4 stars.
